Children's talk for Pentecost Sunday.

By Canon Walter Laverty St. John's Orangefield, Belfast.

Visual Aid: One pencil with rubber.

The lead in the pencil is unseen yet we know it is there. The Holy Spirit is within us, yet unseen. The pencil is useless without the lead. Our lives need God's Spirit too. The wood protects the lead. Our body is the house for God's Spirit. We need to respect it as the temple of the Lord. The rubber is useful when we make a mistake. God promises to rub out our sins completely and to remember them no more. When we make mistakes with our lives, we can turn to him in repentance and faith and claim the new life that he offers through Jesus Christ.
